  • BOUND

    Artist, Editor & Producer

BOUND is a feminist short film exploring restricted bodies through movement, created by Bella Finlayson and Stella Fass in collaboration with Arts Rights Truth and the University of York.

This project is a response to Amnesty International’s report ‘Europe: Under Protected and Over Restricted: The state of the right to protest in 21 European countries’. It is a part of Arts Rights Truth research into the question ‘can the arts save human rights?’, and their project ‘Conversations with Reports’.

BOUND delves into the psychological and emotional impact of the ‘chilling effect’ on young female and gender-non-conforming protesters. Through movement, it looks at the emotional repercussions of the body being controlled and manipulated, as well as the suffocating weight of surveillance, censorship and violent authorities.

Set to a soundscape of interviews from protesters across the UK, this film explores a physical manifestation of restraint, fear and frustration, creating a powerful visual statement on the complexity of protest and the silent ways in which the state stifles dissent.

Currently, this project is part of an in international collaboration with other artivist groups Shift Slow, Gear Up, and Bascule.

  • Sappho Could've Yapped Here - Podcast

    Podcast-host, Producer & Editor

Muddled Muse Theatre Company proudly present Sappho Could’ve Yapped Here! This podcast spotlights queer creatives and their practice as part of a long-term campaign against the consistent cuts and lack of prioritisation of sapphic media, platforming the life-changing benefits of seeing oneself represented in the stories being told.

We ask queer FLINTA (women, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, trans, agender) creatives to share how their identity informs and shapes the work they’re making and their experience in the creative industries. Together we discuss the queer media (both grassroots and mainstream) that’s getting it right and may be getting it wrong; the ones that make us cry-with-joy, scream-in-fury, or just completely cringe.

We seek to provide balance to the negative discourse surrounding sapphic representation, instead spotlighting where positive change and radical work is being made, encouraging up-and-coming queer creatives to continue to show up!
